Key Takeaways
- The new Shrek LEGO set ships June 1 with 1,403 pieces priced for collectors
- A Swarovski Fiona crystal figurine retails at $600 for the luxury market
- Shrek 5 arrives in 2027, driving a nostalgia-fueled merchandise surge
Shrek turned 25 this year. The original film hit theaters in May 2001, and DreamWorks has spent 2026 capitalizing on the anniversary with a merchandise blitz that ranges from kitchen appliances to luxury collectibles. With Shrek 5 confirmed for 2027, the timing is deliberate.
The result is a strange mix of products. You can buy a $50 toaster that burns Shrek's face into bread. You can also spend $600 on a Swarovski crystal Fiona figurine. Both are selling. Here's what's actually trending right now.
Kitchen Appliances: Shrek on Your Breakfast
Two items dominate the novelty kitchen category. The Shrek Sandwich Maker creates grilled cheese with Shrek's face embossed on the bread. It's available on Amazon and has become a staple of gift guides targeting millennial nostalgia buyers.
The Shrek TV Toaster is the more interesting piece. It's a callback to the original Shrek CRT television, a branded kids' TV that now sells for thousands on eBay. The toaster version runs $50 on Amazon. It's shaped like the classic TV and, yes, burns Shrek's face onto toast.
The LEGO Set Everyone's Waiting For
LEGO announced a Shrek and Donkey set that ships June 1, 2026. It contains 1,403 pieces and includes a tiny Puss in Boots figure. Preorders are open on LEGO's site for both US and UK customers.
LEGO's timing is calculated. The set arrives weeks before the anniversary marketing peaks, giving collectors time to build and post their completed swamps on social media before the hype cycle moves on.
Collector's Market: Crystals, Vintage Figures, and Blu-rays
The high end of Shrek collecting has gotten expensive. A Swarovski crystal Fiona figurine retails at $600, targeting the same collector market that buys Disney crystal figurines. It's a genuine luxury item, not a joke gift.
For more accessible collecting, the Shrek 6-Movie Blu-ray Collection includes all films plus digital copies. It's on sale at Amazon at the time of writing. A 2004 Jumbo Shrek Figure has also resurfaced on secondary markets, appealing to collectors who want original-era merchandise.
The Weird Stuff: Toothpaste Toppers and Fidget Toys
Shrek merchandise has always included bizarre items, and 2026 is no exception. A Shrek Toothpaste Topper dispenses toothpaste through Shrek's head. A handmade Shrek Fidget Toy has found an audience among collectors who want something no one else owns.
There's also a Beware Ogre Eyeshadow Palette for Shrek-themed makeup, and a "Shrek the Hall" TY Beanie Babies set paired with a holiday DVD. These items sit in the overlap between collector's markets and novelty gifts.
Food Products: Candy, Soda, and Cereal
Shrek-branded food has returned for the anniversary. Shrek Holiday Sour Candy in apple flavor, Shrek Soda, and Shrek Cereal are all available. These are limited-run products that typically disappear after the marketing window closes.
Shrek 5 and the Hype Machine
All of this merchandise exists in the context of Shrek 5, confirmed for 2027. DreamWorks released a teaser trailer this year. The film has already generated controversy over what fans are calling "hyper-realistic" character redesigns.
Zendaya has been confirmed to voice a character named Felicia in the new film. Fan reactions have ranged from excitement to bewilderment at her expanding filmography.
“Zendaya has now been a spider, a sand person, a tennis player, and an ogre. The range is terrifying.”
— Twitter user reacting to the Shrek 5 cast announcement
Reddit communities like r/shrek and r/movies are split. Some users express "nostalgia fatigue" and criticize the new animation style. Others point to sold-out "Shrek Rave" events and anniversary re-releases as proof the franchise's internet-driven popularity remains intact.
What's Actually Worth Buying
If you're buying for investment potential, the LEGO set and Swarovski figurines are the obvious picks. Limited-run collectibles from established brands tend to hold value better than novelty items.
If you're buying for fun, the toaster and sandwich maker are the most practical. They actually work as kitchen appliances while doubling as conversation pieces. The food products are photo opportunities, not long-term purchases.
